Generative AI has became a buzz word in the marketing, entertainment and every other business sector. Many fear the implications of what AI can do, others embrace it, while others go to far with it. The key with generative AI images in advertising is to make AI NOT look like AI (unless that is what you are going for).

Let’s get started

For this mock ad, I started with the general idea of the shot I wanted. An old-fashioned image of a woman, walking down the street, trying to use a record player as a mobile device. The first image that looked like what I wanted (after a few attempts) is seen here. A few issues arose in terms of the style of the headphones. Mid-Journey kept using more modern headphones. A problem maybe Photoshop could solve?

The Mid-Journey Result

Enhance

After Mid-Journey does its work, I take the image into another tool to further enhance the image. This tool adds more details, enhances some colors, and enlarges the image for more wide use.

Photoshopped

Once Mid-Journey gives me the image I am looking for (sometimes to my surprise a few elements I didn’t even think of) the image is taken into Photoshop where further refinements are made. In this case, Photoshops built in AI allowed for a more vintage looking set of headphones, an old fashioned record player where the headphones are plug into to, and a few touchups here and there.

Photoshop strikes again!

A new set of earbuds.

Something to sell

For this mock ad, I needed something to sell. What contrasts trying to use a record player and old headphones as a portable device? Wireless earbuds that do it all. Enter SoundIQ, the most advanced earbuds on the market, with built in music player, AI, and battery life that lasts up to two weeks (because why not, this is fake).

Final Ad

Back in Photoshop, I then put it all together to create the final ad. While this shot could have been accomplished in real life, with a model, vintage clothes, sound equipment, cars, a shooting permit for a photoshoot in the city. Transporting everything to the location. Oh, and a Photographer to take the images, designers to post process the image.

This is a cost and time detriment to most small businesses. While some used to be able to find stock art that might fit what they are looking for, AI allows for the creation of entirely unique images that can do and be whatever the designer or business wants.

The final ad.
